Alpha-lipoic acid, briefly ALA, is a chemical compound from the group of carboxylic acids. Supports  energy metabolismin the human body. Until recently, it was defined as a vitamin because it was thought that it could only be obtained from external sources – food or supplements. Today it is known that the body can synthesize alpha-lipoic acid on its own, but in very small quantities. The compound is found mainly in meat and in small quantities in fruits and vegetables. The main and biggest advantage of alpha-lipoic acid is its antioxidant effect, thanks to which it helps to neutralize free radicals that accelerate the aging process, destroy DNA structures or lead to peroxidation of cell membranes. The product also has chelating properties and helps the body get rid of unwanted toxins and other dangerous substances.
